Flood Easement
Lake Brownwood is considered full when the elevation of the water reaches 1,425', the level of the spillway. BCWID owns all of the property lower than the spillway elevation of 1,425', all of the land under the lake. BCWID also has a ten foot (10') flood easement on all property around the lake from the elevations of 1,425' to 1,435'. While BCWID does not own the ten feet of land above the 1,425 elevation, it has the right to temporarily store water (or inundate) the land with the flood water that nature provides. Landowners around the lake should not build any permanent structures or septic systems within the ten foot flood easement. BCWID has recently produced a new aerial survey of the lake showing the 1,435' elevation on all property around the lake. Water Treatment Plant Expansion
The water demands of the region are growing beyond the capability of the current Water Treatment Plant and expansion is needed. BCWID is currently planning to build a state of the art membrane water treatment facility to ensure an abundant, safe supply of drinking water for the area.

BCWID has adopted a new logo. You can see it here on the website and on any BCWID vehicle. Notice that it has a prominent depiction of Lake Brownwood . We like that because the Lake is so important to our community.
